Former Favourites

Islanmore Ginger
Owned by Paul & Elaine Newbert. My horse of a lifetime who I am forever grateful to for carrying me around two Burghley's for top half finishes. He had the heart of a lion and just adored XC. I am so lucky to have joined him on the greatest adventures where we had the greatest fun. He had 13 clears at old 3 and 4* including placings at many Advanced's and the British Open at Gatcombe. He really was my hero.

Diplomatic Jack
Jack is part of the family having owned him since he was 3 years old. He is retired here at the yard- now 26 years old. He gave me my first taste of Eventing success winning the Pony Club Championships. He had many other titles to his name- Baileys East Anglian Novice Champion, Derby House owner/ rider Champion, HTSG young event rider SJ Champion at Windsor, 1st Osberton CIC**, 3rd Burgie CCI**, 1st Knaptoft Advanced Intermediate, 1st Lincoln young rider OI and Young Rider European Team selection, although he was my chosen reserve. He was a little horse who had a huge impact on my career, and is a big part of my life.

Flint Curtis
When I finished my A Levels I went to ride at Edward Nicholsons four times a week where I took over the ride on Flint. We started off with great success, winning a couple of events. The following year we had good enough form to end the year with Young Rider Team Selection and gained a Silver medal from the championships in Portugal. I successfully completed my first ever Advanced on Flint at Gatcombe in the British Intermediate Championships- I fell off my first when he hit an innocuous log a few fences from home after an awesome round! When my year out was completed and I went to University, Flint moved on. He later won Badminton with Oli Townend.

Latina 43
Owned by Rachel Evison. Bambi was placed 3rd in the National 6 year old Championships and the following year, after good Intermediate form we were selected for Le Lion 7 year old world championships. She was a jumping machine and it was a privilege to ride her, although she could get excited in the dressage arena! She eventually represented Japan and competed at the London 2012 Olympics.

Wow II
Owned by Tim and Antonia Brown and Sara Lucas. I rode Wow from 100 to Advanced. He won Houghton CCI* along with many other good results including top 10 placings at CCI** and Advanced. He was beautifully produced by Tim and Antonia and I just loved riding him XC.

Trevarth
Ben was owned by Valerie Mason. The kindest happiest horse who I rode from 100 to Advanced. He competed at old CIC*** and was Scottish Intermediate National Champion. After winning at Intermediate when he was 7 years old he also got selected for Le Lion 7 year old world champs. He was another awesome XC horse who was so easy and brave XC. Despite not finding the SJ the easiest he always tried hard for you and did manage many double clears even at Advanced! Ben was loved by everyone who met him.

Grappa Nera
Grape was owned by Judy Bradwell and myself. Her highlight with me was being crowned British Eventing National 5 year old Champion. She was a strong willed character who I loved riding. After a fantastic year as a 6 year old with multiple Novice wins under her belt and a placing at the 6 year old Championships she was sadly sold to continue her bright future with Jonelle Price.

Howick Freedom
Freedom was owned and bred by Lady Clare Howick and although I took on the ride very late in his career he was much loved. He gained double clears at CCI S 4* and was placed 5th at Chatsworth Advanced as well as some effortless placings at CCI S 3*. He was a speed demon XC and the loveliest horse to look after, meaning that although we didn't have long together before his retirement we all became very fond of him.

Vermeer
I was the last to event Saachi before his retirement after he was gifted to me. After getting used to how small he felt I had the greatest fun on him. He moved up to Advanced with me and when he was placed at his last Advanced at Little Downham, he won the Little Tiger award for the smallest horse in the class. I show jumped him when he was no longer eventing and he loved it, gaining no less than 9 top 3 placings at Fox/1.20m out of 10 classes. He was such a cheerful smiley person, he now enjoys retirement munching grass and field hopping with Kathryn Pickering.

DS Alice
Alice owned by Wendy Rose deserves a mention as an old favourite. I was only meant to ride her briefly whilst Wendy was off riding as Alice was bought as Wendys hunter. After winning her third 100, we decided to carry on eventing her. She then won at Novice and Intermediate and was then jumping double clear and getting placed at Advanced. Not bad for a hunter! She was a gutsy, get on with it, no nonsense mare who was as tough as they come. She has bred three lovely foals of which the first- Pascha, by Karandasj will start this year.
